Lost In Davenport 1/29/2001
by "Stardust" John Peacock

It's been one of those weeks. The Ben "situation" is done with, and I'm not going to mention it here, if you want to know what happens, the brand new www.DeadlyWrestling.com is always a good place to.....that was a cheap plug....really cheap.

Anyway, with that over, I was hit yesterday with another wonderful bit of news. Tim (Papa Fly) confined to me that he really doesn't have his heart into wrestling anymore, and rather then make another comeback knowing that he wouldn't be into it and thus everything he did would look half-assed, he had decided to bow gracefully from the fed.  That's a decision that I can really respect, and I'd kind of seen it coming for the last few months, though Tim had planned to tape some segments with Me to kick of a huge fued that would last all summer on Friday, that's obviously changed. Oh well I guess, here's a thanks to Tim for the time he did put into the fed, heck, last September he was proubly the top worker in the DWF. It's to bad to see him go, but his reasoning gives respect to DWF and our product, which is really classy, thanks buddy.

So guess what? That's right, REBOOKING!!!! Am I going to give away what Ty and myself are working ummmmm, nope, that just wouldn't be fun really. Honestly, we don't have too much figured out, but we better soon, because we're set to start taping "DWF: Snow Day 2001" this Saturday, and the finish it up next week. I can only hope this show turns out well, Snow Day has been planned to be the big DWF show of this month , and that still could happen if things fall into place.

Speaking of Snow Day, we had planned to tape it last weekend at the new DWF Arena (Snake Fight's house), but scheduling problems led to it only being Ty, Rich, JJ, Jake, our new guy Dave, Patrick, and myself there. With Tybolt as the World Champion (and taking a much need week or so off from the DWF), we really didn't have the people needed to run Snow Day. Lou ended up going to hospital for some stomach pains, nothing serious from what Ty told me, but he obviously couldn't work that afternoon. So we threw togeather a little "house show" and thanks to the condition of Jake's yard, we had freezing rain the day before, we named it "Wrestling on Ice". Not a bad name really, but bumping on soild ice really does suck.

But despite mother nature kicking our ass, we manged to have a good show from what I can remember. JJ vs Soilent vs Snake Fight vs Reckless was quite a good four way that played off Rocky's depature, Rich and Jake's mini-title fued, JJ and Soilent's odd pairing and made for a good match which saw JJ come out on top. JJ earned the match with me later for the pF World Title, and we had a good (even if it was kinda slow) match in Jake's basement, which has a really low ceiling that didn't help to much. Angel De Morte's angle with Twisted FINALLY got started. I tell you, that's been spossed to happen for a month now, dang...even the mid-card is getting backed up.

We debuted a co-worker of mine (at Long John Silvers) named "Deacon Dark" now Dave (that being his actual name) is way more of a wrestling fan then I knew from working with him, which is really cool. He got the squash over Skulleosus (who is staying with the fed, though Tim is gone....oh guess that kinda gave away who used to play the "Skull Face Monster" damn). I'm hoping Dave at least can turn into a very soilent mid-card gothic face, he has a pretty good look right now, so it's all good.

So that's more or less what happened over the last week. Now aside from preparing for Snow Day, I hvae the 2/3 Oshkosh Trip to worry about, the problem right now is getting someone to go, JJ has told me he's 99% sure he can....which will be come 1% sure the day of the trip! if that happens again i'm going to scream, because I'm not too hip to making the trip alone anymore, the drive goes by so quick with someone else in the car. Either way, can't wait to be back up in Oshkosh.

Part of the fun hopefully will be my purchase of the "Best of Backyard Wrestling" vol. 1 and 2. Yeah, i've been told i'm "going to hell" for buying what will no doubt be crap, but my love for buying crappy wrestling is reaching legendary levels (having already purchased 3 XPW tapes and one of the American FMW videos).

And on that terrifying note, another column ends. I had a really cool catche pharse worked out to end all of these with, but for the sake of the pF page, i won't use it. Take care everyone.
