First, I'll send thanks out to the pSyChO Zone for letting me have this little article. I don't wrestle with pF regularly (as much as I would like to) so it's even more extra special, or something.
Ok, now for this first effort I'll go and drag this up one last time, because I haven't give my full view of it...
-Rob
already buried Rocky dead in a recent Straightjacket and on the bio's page, so I
can do very little in ways of making him look bad. But I can give a view from
someone who did spend time with Rocky, and worked with him a lot. I've discussed
this on my own page a little, but this is a much bigger forum for my views.
I'll state
right off the bat that Rocky Relentless is my friend, backyard wrestling or
wrestling in general isn't going to make me not want to be friends with someone.
If someone didn't want to job, ok, he's being a dick, but I won't hold a grudge
when we're not working on BYW issues, it seems kinda pointless to me. With that
said, I can say that when it DID come to BYW issues, Rocky managed to get under
my skin like no other.
My main
complaint is one that many people are amazed by, during his entire stay here he
always told me he didn't like to plan out moves or call spots during our match.
Now excuse my language but WTF?! No match, ever, in the history of wrestling has
been good if the workers refuse to call moves or sports. All it results in is
sloppy crap, which right now, the backyard doesn't need to be producing, we're
too all busy working on workrate and not looking like sadistic kids who just
want to carve each other up.
Anyway,
back to Mr. Relentless, a terrific example of his beliefs occurred before his
final match a couple weeks ago. I was getting ready for my entrance and looked
over to him and commented, "remember man, call the moves before you do
them" he looked back, as if contemplating the fate of the universe and
said, "dude, you know i hate doing that". GREAT! so when Rocky does
that awesome Burning Hammer he can do (LOL! j/k, he wouldn't know what a Burning
Hammer is unless I called it "The move Mosh does every blue moon...and he
doesn't do it that well"), I'll not know how to land!!!!
See, this
is why I don't trust Rocky during matches, and why I trust Rob, even though I've
only worked with Rob once! He understands this basic concept of protecting your
opponent, Rocky however, doesn't in the least.
Now
sloppy, my other main concern with the former DWF worker. I'll be honesty and
say Rocky could do moves and be halfway decent, but that goes back to his not
really caring about calling or practicing. He would rather pick someone up and
throw them in the air, then follow though! It's really the stupidest thing
possible in a match. This is exactly why I trust Rob to toss me around then I do
Rocky, even though i've worked with Rocky more! Rob knows how to help protect
his opponent, talk in the ring, and do the moves. Rocky knows none of the above.
Combine
this with his refusal to come to Oshkosh b/c of jobbing, and him actually
forgetting that's he ever been a pain in the ass backstage, I'm over and done
with him. He's off to New Jersey sometime (I think). His last match was too
weeks ago, and we put on an ok show, despite a couple blown spots. I wussed out
and didn't dive on to the picnic table, among other things. But by DWF standards
it was pretty good. Everything about him has now been said, goodbye Rocky.
-SC X is
in about two weeks or so, I'm to be honest, I'm really damn
worried. I don't think I've ever left Oshkosh thinking I've done a good job. My
first time up there it was my normal worry that I didn't do enough moves or that
my stuff didn't look good, same things with the Cruiser three way. And last
time, I was pissed off about my mic work. It's always a great time up there, but
wrestling wise, I don't think I've done anything to bring me to pF level. Guess
it comes with time and practice. Thanks to Rob and everyone there being good
guys and all that, it's a lot easier to make the trip knowing everyone isn't a
dick.
-I'll
comment on me and Shane's reign, I hope it doesn't last too long. Our victory I
think is more of a "F*** you* to Rocky then a good angle. Frankly, I think
if me and Shane were to get the titles ever again, I'd want us to more of a
cohesive team, with a name, a finisher, and all the stuff that goes with a real
tag team. Right now I feel like me and him are Russo-tag champ, you know,
feuding guys who get the titles......but Shane's a heel....and so am I.....oh
well.....whatever. I don't deserve the tag titles yet because i'm not at that
level. But I'm glad to be tagging with Shane, because like Rob said, he can give
our team the actual wrestling part and I can worry about the mic work or comedy.
-I'm going
to try to update this regularly, but I'm on vacation out of town all next week,
so no computer till a week from Wednesday. Hope this column was halfway decent.
Thanks for reading and take care everyone
