SuperCard Ten weekend has come and gone and I can honestly say I haven't seen a better backyard show ever. Thanks to everyone in pF, Violence, and Stone, for good company and a good time.
Now let's
talk about the show itself. This was of course my first Uptown show, and to say
I was nervous was a understatement. I've been told some people could see me
shake. Thankfull, I'm glad I overcame a bit of stagefright and delivered what
I'd say was my best cheap heat promo ever.
Being out there, as corny as it might sound, was a real thrill. If you think
about, how many backyard feds do get to perform in front of any kinda of crowd
like that? Some maybe, but I really feel it's Uptown shows that for now (until
pF reaches indy status, it's gonna happen one of these years) set Psycho Fed
apart from every other fed I've seen. There, we're not just wrestling for the
reason many other feds are, our amusement, we're wrestling
to entertain others who may not understand inside jokes or any of that. That
means the wrestling better be damn good and the promos better be the same.
On July 7th, pF put it all together.
(Note: This all may seem a bit disjointed, it's my third can of RC Edge and I'm
quited tired, so bare with me)
The days leading up the big show weren't the best, very chatoic with Rich
disappearing to Chicago and Doug somewhere with a bum knee. We missed the parade
(as I bet you've heard by now) which stinks cause I was kinda looking forward to
it. Missing the parade made Rob go insane for a bit, but that's ok, no harm
really done.
SuperCard Showdown I thought was actually a really good backyard show. The show
had a really good mix of squashes (Stone-Druid, Tag Titles) mid card
(Rob-Justin, Stardust-Violence) and what I thought was a well paced main event,
stupid lightbulb spot or not. Picking up that thing is a pain.
Back to SuperCard again. Every single match featured pF at it's best, nothing
hardcore aside from a chair or cane or strap, just great wrestling. The
evolution pF has gone through from being a mainly hardcore fed to a great
wrestling backyard group is really tremendous and something that other feds can
learn from if they are serious about being good. The pacing of the tournament
really impressed me a lot.
The first
round matches for the most part were kept short, which helps those advancing
keep energy for later.
Putting Rob-Justin first was a great start because it gave the crowd a giant
"WTF!" to start the show and really threw everyone off as to who would
win.
I
personally enjoyed what I could see of Rob-Justin and Violence-Doug from the
first round the most, Doug and Violance work well together when mixing brawling
and wrestling. The finals with Rich and Justin was really good especially when
you consider both men were dead by that point.
I guess there are no long digressions this time, a long day of work and such. Next time I'll dive back into some DWF "news" and whatever else I can think of.
Later, thanks for reading...
