LOST IN DAVENPORT 8/16/00
by Stardust (Aka John Peacock)

I’d like to personally thank Mircosoft Internet Explorer for going back a few web pages and losing the column I was typing up! Oh well, that will teach me to try and delete amisspelled word. Anywho, there’s been a lot of stuff going on in DWF and Psycho Fed, so let’s try to cover all the bases.

DWF Stuff you May or May Not Care About:

-First I’ll try and go into detail about why Rocky Relentless (yeah, he’s isn’t retired/fired/moving to Jersey after all) is the DWF World Champion. I knew I’d catch a ton of heat for this, in fact Rob thought and still thinks I bet, that the idea is stupid and Rocky doesn’t deserve it. Oh well, I expect that, bridges have been burned between Rocky and pF.......but let’s not go there today.

There are a few good reasons as to why this happened, one by one, let’s go though them.

Sounds like fun doesn’t it? I can see you hitting “back” on your browser right now!

1. Soilent’s work schedule and personal stuff isn’t lending itself to a strong face title run over the summer like we had hoped. It’s everyone’s fault, and I’ll take a lot of blame for not setting show dates way ahead of time. Frankly, my work is ticked off enough that I took off a bunch of time earlier this summer (for personal stuff and SuperCard) so I really can’t take days of just for DWF shows right now, so I can only set shows on Mondays when I find out when I work. It makes it kind of hard to let everyone know, so I apologize.

2. The big title match at Wars End wasn’t as dramatic as it should have been for Soilent getting the title. Sure, the Boyz of Summer vs Soilent Green angle was there, but it hadn’t been played out that much at all. Hell, I think Wars End was the first time me, Papa Fly, and Soilent have all been on camera at the same time since the angle was started!!! And Wars End was the blowoff show to that!!! Just right there says something isn’t right. Not to discredit Papa Fly and Soilent’s match, it was pretty good, but the drama just wasn’t
what it could have been. With Rocky as champion, the backstory is there for a really great ending match to the feud.

3. Rocky with the title draws heat easy, if only because of off camera things. Stardust and Rocky paired is the least likely team ever but it make sense on camera, it works really well. This can be a chance for Rocky to work on his promos and things like that. I want to do all I can to avoid another Stardust title reign because I don’t want to look selfish, and with Rich Reckless being too green for the World title, Rocky is the perfect choice.

I’m just a bit tired, so that’s about all the explaning I can do for right now. With the August 20th show getting closer, things should really fall into place.

**I’d like to note right now that above piece was typed about a week ago**

Ok, now I can FINISH this column. It’s been a week, I’ve had my wisdom teeth removed, finished a DWF show, and worked and worked and worked on making tapes! I hate it =) I can see why Rob’s not fond of making tapes, it’s BORING! Honestly, I can only watch the same matches over and over.

Anyway, preperation for the Aug. 20th show has begun somewhat down here. (oh yeah, btw, it’s about 4 am right now so any errors in grammar or spelling.......oh well) We’re sorta looking into getting a yard that isn’t mine so we don’t have to worry about my neighbors and stuff like that and a few others things. Used our last DWF show to hype the Soilent vs Rocky “DWF Main Event” so that’s all good. I’m really looking forward to the show on about the same level I was looking forward to SuperCard X, but for different reasons. SCX it was more selfish, just wondering how I’d do, but this time I’m really just wanting to see how the other guys there (Tybolt, Papa Fly, ect) mesh with the pF talent. If anything, I have a lot more confidence in the guys here then I would have about oh....a couple months ago, seems everyone has turned it up a lot over the last couple shows, and it’s going to show on the 20th. We’re getting in a few new guys who look pretty good for working (to my knowledge) their first real backyard matches on our last shows (Reckless and Trevor Gaze), so talent wise things are looking a lot different then what they were looking like at the beginning of summer.

Not a lot to talk about if you haven’t noticed. I really thought I had more to talk about, but I feel like i’m just rambling. Expect another update before next Sunday, and as always, thanks for reading.
