Interview with Stardust done by the Backyard Wrestling Newsletter

Last July, DWF wrestler Stardust had a chance to be interviewed by the BYN. This is simi-shoot btw :P Thanks go out to Robert Poole who runs it (and the pSyChO Fed) and you can reach their site at The Backyard Wrestling News Page. Thanks

BYW News: This week's interview is with John Peacock of the DWF (Deadly Wrestling Federation) out of the Quad Cities in Iowa. John in the past has wrestled as Adam Strange but currently wrestles as Stardust.

BYW News: John, after being ranked in Philip Stamper's BEST, why did you decide to change gimmicks, away from Adam Strange, who was the anti-hardcore technical wrestler?

Stardust: A lot of it has to do with backstage things that were happing in the DWF, the anti-hardcore aspect I'd still love to do but things haven't worked as far as angles go in the DWF. I never really got a look for Adam Strange which I felt would stand out, and my mic skills aren't as good as they should be for the character I wanted to create with him.

BYW News: We've heard that there's been a lot of pulling in different directions as far as DWF goes, what is causing the inner turmoil within the fed?

Stardust: I wouldn't say turmoil as in not just getting along, a lot of us have jobs and such, so getting everyone in the fed together for shows is a major problem. It's caused us to rethink our outlook on how we run things, downplaying long running angles and things like that. But along the lines of jobbing and that, there's never been a problem, we all get along well

BYW News: Now there's talk of a matchup down the road with Violence of PBW in Missouri, and possibly wrestling around the last week of July in The pSyChO Federation. Any truth to those rumors?

Stardust: Yep, I'm pretty much confirmed to be in Oshkosh for the Air Show. I've been lazy about getting the dates for the show, but I'm heading up there. I'm looking very forward to working with the pSyChO Fed. As far as the match with Violence goes, there's been some communication problems, but hopefully the matches we want to do will happen. I think me and him could put on a show that people in the BYW community would take notice of.

BYW News: How long have you been wrestling, and what makes you strive to be one of the best in BYW?

Stardust: Well, with the DWF, it's been about a year since we formed. Just myself, like most wrestling fans, the only other matches I've done have been just stuff with friends, nothing for any backyard fed, but I'd say I've been doing matches for a good 7 or 8 years, not good ones, but matches no less For me, it's just having someone take notice, wanting my name out there among those in the backyard that really are commited to it. It's not a way of life for me, but if this is the only wrestling I'll ever do, then I'll but all I have into it, give anyone who watches our tapes a show.

BYW News: Is there any guys in the backyard that you really admire, or that really entertains you as a fan?

Stardust: people that stand out are Devilman and Matt Schalk in GEW, the whole roster in the SWA has talent in all different aspects. Jizz and Derick Brown of HCW are also very good, I'll admit I haven't had the chance to see a lot of different feds. Stealth from pF, And Rob, because he respects the backyard like no one else i've seen

BYW News: Okay to close it off, what are your future goals in BYW, and what does DWF have in store for Summer of 1999?

Stardust: If all goes well, we should be putting out a lot more matches this summer. Thanks to the wonderful efforts of Travis, who goes under the name of Sharelee Petersen on camera, and myself, we've managed to get most of the guys interested in the fed again, which is great. We've decided to do less angles to increase match output, and that's been working really well. I give thanks out to him for his efforts! With luck, i'll be give the DWF a little more exposure with the pF and Violence matches over the summer. We also have a few new wrestlers in. Everyone's in proving and I think we have promise to be a very good fed in the backyard.

BYW News: Thank you for your time and good luck in the future..
